Silly me wasn't using pruners, just breaking it off as I walked by in a rush. The ring finger is stiff and some pain. Will be harder to use my violin bow for a few days! I learned my lesson- don't mess with Mr. P without gloves on!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14461826952279808449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2147708777067692204.post-21184224075408084342020-01-29T16:51:51.803-08:002020-01-29T16:51:51.803-08:00There used to be a pyracantha at my parent's h...There used to be a pyracantha at my parent's house right at the property line. The neighbor would always say, "That's your bush!" We'd say, "No. It's yours!" Neither one of us wanted to endure the pain of trying to prune it. But, of course since I was the 'kid' I wound up having to do it. Despite wearing TWO pairs of gloves the thorns would pierce the leather. There was no doubt in my mind as to why they called it a "Fire Thorn." Ultimately, the plant was removed by the phone company. It was blocking access to a switching box.

If I had anything worth stealing a pyracantha would make a great anti-burglary tool. It would also be good if I was a celebrity trying to maintain my privacy. (Only the most foolhardy paparazzo would try to breach a hedge of Firethorns.)
Otherwise, I would never have another one.
M.B.Mike Bloodworthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04755626259169126800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2147708777067692204.post-32460912327358926382013-08-10T12:43:50.221-07:002013-08-10T12:43:50.221-07:00Found after an early afternoon taking two pyracant...Found after an early afternoon taking two pyracantha down from three metres to thirty centimetres each.
